The rectification plan for coal-fired boilers above 20 tons before October 31, 2016, has been announced with four options: 1. Grid connection: Priority grid connection for boilers meeting the conditions. 2. Natural gas: Priority use of natural gas where pipeline networks are available. 3. Installation of desulfurization and denitrification equipment: Adding such equipment without replacing the coal-fired boilers. 4. Semi-coke: Retrofitting coal-fired boilers to use the clean energy source—semi-coke. Industry experts recommend that among the four options, grid connection should be prioritized for eligible boilers. For boilers ineligible for grid connection, retrofitting coal-fired boilers into semi-coke boilers is the preferred choice. This approach significantly reduces equipment investment costs, substantially lowers boiler operating expenses, and fully complies with environmental emission standards. The promotion and use of semi-coke boilers have given hope to manufacturers using coal-fired boilers. Since the burner structure of semi-coke boilers is specifically designed and manufactured for the properties of semi-coke—high fixed carbon, low volatile matter, difficulty in complete combustion, and challenges in ignition—it differs from the burner structure of ordinary coal-fired boilers. Therefore, ordinary coal-fired boilers cannot burn semi-coke. Attempting to burn semi-coke in coal-fired boilers may result in issues such as poor combustion and flameouts, extremely low combustion efficiency, reduced boiler output, high energy consumption with low efficiency, increased operating costs, and disruption of users’ normal heating needs. Shaanxi Weinan Fandel Boiler Factory has specifically developed a new environmentally friendly semi-coke boiler and designed retrofitting solutions for coal-fired boilers to convert them into semi-coke boilers, along with customized dust removal equipment. This ensures that after retrofitting, the semi-coke boiler is easy to ignite, easy to seal, and achieves full combustion of semi-coke. Key features include: - Internal heat exchange tubes designed as threaded smoke tubes, improving thermal efficiency by 5% and featuring self-cleaning functionality. - Oxygen-enriched waste heat preheating for combustion assistance, increasing thermal efficiency by 3% and extending the service life of the grate.
